Cinderella's Preschool Adventure!

Today, my daughter decided demanded to wear her cinderella costume! And insisted on her wand and high heels to match! I should have known this would be a VERY long day....... but no.. i was determined to take her to preschoool anyway!

After many failed attempts at getting her to wear something else. I called my mother-n-law to come over to help since she was in the neighborhood anyway. And my husband magically disappeared this morning to go to the gym (knowing that he had to help me get her ready for school!). After some bribing, which didn't work, I just picked her up and put her in the car in her cinderella ball gown and heels. I managed to put on some pink gymboree sweats underneath and brought her pink jacket and nikes along. She wore this gown the entire day with sweats! The cute thing is she was sweeping the playground so she was really playing her 'cinderella role.'
I even had to tuck her ball gown into her sweats, so that she wouldn't trip or fall! It happened on the way to her classroom in her nikes! And thank god I was able to put on her sneakers... otherwise, she would have been falling all over the playground! ahhhhhh..... and did she want to go home once the bell rang? NOPE!.. Did she run around the playground with scissors in hand and throw a tantrum? YES! *sigh* The terrible two's are fun...... but wow........ quite the challenge at times! The teacher says I'm doing a great job dealing with it. But, I know there is a lot I need to work on.. like limit setting! It's never an option with my little one. Giving her options seems to work sometimes, but not always. One day.......

So, usually after preschool, we go get lunch somewhere....but after a meltdown at preschool and then on the car ride home...there was no way I was taking her out to lunch! Thank goodness I was able to get a little break and drop her off next door to run to whole foods for some groceries and a sandwich. It was between that or drive-thru! Uh, no thanks!

HOPEFULLY.. I will get some time to myself this evening since it rarely ever happens! My husband's idea of giving me a break.. is watching the game while our daughter is aimlessly wandering around the house! I don't think so! She probably doesn't even eat! His theory is... if he's hungry... she's hungry.... little does he realize that he needs snacks between meals! He tries to take a lot of shortcuts.... like not warming up her milk... how hard is it to microwave milk for 45 seconds?

Ahh...Sometimes... daycare or hiring a babysitter is so tempting.... but I still refuse to go that route. If my husband takes shortcuts... imagine other people? I have seen way too many Nannies screaming at the poor kids at the local park. I wouldn't want anyone else to try to reprimand my child.

ANyhoo, it's time for my little one's nap.... which means.... stroll her for 2 to 3 hours. Do Mommies ever get a break? I don't think so!
